River Note

River Note:
Inlet
by Anna Kroll

Re-PLACE-ing Philadelphia is building an expanded archive of cultural memory that includes multiple histories, re-place-ing the established with new narratives and understandings. Notes from invited artists and community members consider place via the street, sound, rivers, trees, and other portals.

Artist Anna Kroll continues her meditation on how water orients one's sense of place with this audio recording, made to be listened to by The Schuylkill or the Delaware rivers.

Instructions for listening:

Find a spot by one of the rivers, The Schuylkill or the Delaware.
You should be able to see water.
The Schuylkill is 135 mi, the Delaware is 301, so you have a lot of options.
Maybe Race St. Pier, my favorite, or the nature trail by Walmart.
Maybe the Water Works or Falls Bridge or any of the places in between.
Pick a spot that feels close, either in location or spirit and go there.
Bring this audio track with you.

Anna Kroll is an artist living in South Philadelphia. See her work at annakroll.com, see more water at @aqueousness.
